You can see when Earth Elements Workshop is next running and how to book a specific class in Next available at the end of this page.
Workshop on: 17th August 10 - 12:30 pm
Earth Elements is a 2 hour 30mins workshop for those that are interested in a sustainable practise of making water colour paint using materials foraged from East Kent’s shoreline.
A “show and tell” identifies Sharon’s collection of beach found materials used to make powered natural pigments. There will be demonstrations and instructions given to the process of pigment making with health and safety guidelines.
Each person will create a range of watercolour paints contained within a Whitstable oyster shell, make a paper print using a glass Muller, and paint a colour wheel on water colour paper to take home. Attendees are encouraged to exchange ideas of how this process might be used for their own artistic means of expression.
Sharon’s pigments are based primarily from her local beach environment at LongRock SSSI, Swalecliffe. This location has a rich history and wealth of materials found and foraged and brings stories to her work. This workshop programme encourages and inspires you to forage your own materials on your journeys and generates your own collection of the lost and found to use in your own artistic way.
It is recommended you bring a fully charge phone, a notebook and pen. Samples can be added to your own sketchbook. A5 sketchbooks are available to purchase at £3 on the day. All materials will be provided. Copies of pigment making methods, materials and equipment list are available by email.
