Hosted here at the Horsebridge in the heart of Whitstable, this annual holiday course is designed for anyone who would like to improve their pre-existing drawing skills or re-invigorate their love of drawing in a supportive learning environment. This 2-day intensive course will focus on rigorous observational drawing techniques, emphasising their relationship to diverse creative practices. Whether you are an abstract or interpretive painter, sculptor, animator, graphic designer, ceramicist, or textile artist - drawing is a bedrock skill that reinforces the fundamental principles of art and design for any discipline.
Working with international artist Camille Serisier, participants will explore a series of drawing activities underpinned by key technical skills and situated firmly within an art historical context. At the end of each day, students will participate in a focused group critique session designed to review the learning, feedback on the work of each practitioner, and build a sense of supportive camaraderie.
The theme for this year is Drawing: Imagination and Memory. Each day will have a different learning emphasis and cover new content.
Refreshments and basic drawing materials will be provided along with access to materials from our ArtBank on a pay what you can basis (depending on current availability).
