ST/art Textile Exhibition was inspired by the idea of a using the sanitary towel as a basic template for a collective community textile exhibition, which could help raise awareness of period poverty and curb the use of plastic within sanitary products.
Many women and girls find the cost of sanitary products inhibitive even in relatively high-income countries like the UK,
and single-use plastic-based period products cause one of the most common forms of marine pollution.
Joyce Wilson will also be demonstrating how to knit the EPP slogan into jumpers and other textiles in the gallery on the afternoons of the 26th September and the 3rd October and on the morning of the 4th October. You can just drop in to these informal sessions.
