ARTbank

ARTbank at The Horsebridge

A place where everybody can experience creativity. Everyone is welcome, everyone can take part.

WHAT IS THE ARTBANK?

The ARTbank is a place for donated and preloved art materials, which are then offered on a ‘pay what you can’ basis to members of the local community.

We have created a space where free or affordable art materials are available to those who need them most. We know the positive impact creativity has on people’s well being, which is why it is important to us at The Horsebridge that no one is excluded from being able to access and enjoy art and craft materials.

The ARTbank is also able to help us create a supportive and non-judgemental place for adults and children to take part in free or affordable creative sessions inspired by the materials in the ARTbank.

Recent funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with Canterbury City Council as the lead authority**, has enabled us to expand the ARTbank into its permanent new home on the ground floor of The Horsebridge in a fully accessible space that can be accessed anytime the building is open.

The ARTbank also supports environmental responsibility by ensuring that more materials are re-used wherever possible and not sent to landfill.

We will also be running the ARTbank creative programme, a series of free creative workshops in response to the materials that have been donated. We will be announcing more details about how you can take part very soon.

ACCESSING THE ARTBANK

The ARTbank will be open to the public every day except Tuesdays from June and is located on the ground floor via recption.

All items are available on a pay what you can basis.

To ensure the ARTbank is fair to all, we may need to limit the number of items that you can take per visit and will have suggested donation amount signs for certain high value or brand new items as a guide.

The ARTbank also operates a Pay it Forward scheme, which will help people access free materials with no financial burdens or stigma.  Anyone who wants to support this initiative can contribute towards the fund by leaving a pay it forward donation

We will be holding regular special access sessions specifically for community organisations, their users and contacts, who will be able to access the ARTbank outside of opening hours on selected Tuesdays. If you have an organisation you think would beneift please contact us on the email below.
