Week 5:
11 Jan 2025: Blind Drawing
The fifth is called Blind Drawing and is a facial portrait based around the idea of not looking at the paper but only at the subject. This is a great way to loosen up one’s drawing style and build a confident line. The results can be used as the basis for a large portrait picture. This approach can also be applied in a more open-ended humorous way. Here is my picture of a horse having breakfast done using this technique.
Week 6:
8 Feb 2025: Childhood Favourite Portraits
The sixth is a venture into the past to select an image of a childhood favourite, perhaps a character from a television programme, a puppet, for example. The idea is to then produce a representation of the object of your affection in the style of Vincent van Gogh the master of many a sinuous evocative masterpiece! This is the picture I got the idea from.
