Whitstable Oyster Parade 2019

Part of our They came from the deep summer event was the creation of big builds alongside model and prop building workshops and drop-in sessions to take part in the Whitstable Oyster Festival oyster parade. The weather tried it's very best to rain on our parade, with rain preventing some of the paper-based big builds from appearing, but alongside community groups and schools, our team of staff and volunteers managed to get Crabzilla and other models to join in and create a fantastic spectacle for the watching town.

Crabzilla has returned to the Horsebridge galleries to inhabit a special underwater world with our other creatures from the deep. You can visit them everyday until 11 August in Gallery 1.

Thank you so much for all the fantastic community support during the Oyster Parade and to all the wonderful participants of our workshops who made their own masks, props and costumes. Special thanks also to the IO Arts, History & Disability group for wearing the most wonderful Octopus costumes and braving the weather this morning and for Herne Junior School for all their support too.
