In all of her paintings whether they are realistic or abstract, Katherine wants her work to have depth and tell stories.
She has enjoyed playing with the relationship between light and darkness, and how this contrast can hold power and draw your eyes in different directions.
For example in her painting, ‘Calm Before the Storm’, the presence of a moody, stormy sky has movement and anticipation, verses the bright stillness of the sailing boat and the reflections on the water.
