Sue and Anna have collaborated on their art and exhibited together successfully for the past 3 years.
Their exhibitions focus on the natural world – a celebration of Kent : the “Garden of England” and its coastline, with a message to take time out to embrace slow living in an ever more turbulent world and to protect the environment. Both Anna and Sue live in Kent, and have exhibited successfully in Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Sue draws creative inspiration from objects that inspire her and places that she loves, particularly the British coast, its harbours, and the beaches along the east and south coast where she walks and cycles. She works in oils, repainting to build layers and create markings, sometimes incorporating mixed media for added texture. The natural rhythms of the seasons and the sea are timeless and she has immersed herself in studies of light and water, reflections and vast skies. The joy for her is seeing a client drawn to a painting because it resonates for them too. She hopes that her work reflects her enthusiasm and passion for her art, and her delight in colour and experimentation.
Anna is inspired by the beauty of the natural world that surrounds us and paints uplifting landscapes, gardens and flowers in energetic, expressive and colourful oil paints, hoping to capture the beauty and natural rhythms in the subjects she chooses with a variety of different brush strokes. Her aim is to capture the essence of a subject, as opposed to a photographic replica, and to pass on the joy she finds in it to the viewer of the painting. Like Sue, she finds it immensely satisfying, rewarding and somewhat humbling when someone chooses to display one of her pieces in their homes.
