Ann’s oil paintings depict the land, sea and sky at various times of day and year, state of the tide and weathers. Her style is impressionistic, tending towards some abstraction. The exhibition presents a series of shoreline, sea and skyscape oil paintings, also sketches, cards and prints, inspired by plein air work and visits to the coast.
The Kent Coast is visually exciting from the pebble shores of the north of Kent to sandy beaches and chalk cliffs around the peninsula, chalk rocks crumbling into the sea; chalk stacks and rock pools around the Broadstairs coast , Dover and into Folkestone before the sandy beaches of Camber Sands and the Seven Sisters beyond. In contrast Ann also enjoys painting on the Cornish Coast, and whilst there is much excitement to be has from the tumultuous Atlantic Seas Ann’s recent visits have been blessed by calm and sunny weather. Ann paints these wondrous shores in her popular impasto palette knife oil painting style aiming to create an interesting display of her work. The paintings in the exhibition will include work from both Cornwall and Kent.
