Studies have shown that colours and emotions are closely linked. Each hue can affect our mental state and mood: warm colours can evoke different emotions to cool colours; bright colours can create different feelings than muted colours. In this year's exhibition, The Whitstable Art Society have focused on the use of colour and form, particularly by 20th Century artists including the Bauhaus movement, the Abstract Expressionists and the American Colourists. Artists that have been studied include Kandinsky, Mondrian and Rothko.

Under normal circumstances, Whitstable Art Society meets on alternate Thursday afternoons at the Parish Social Centre, 15a Castle Road, Whitstable CT5 2DY from 2pm to 4pm. New members of all abilities are always welcome.

Please visit their website for further information about dates and themes of meetings and also to see examples of the society's range of work www.whitstableartsociety.co.uk ‘Striking Colour’ is a rescheduled exhibition, originally due to take place in April 2020, but postponed due to the closure of the Horsebridge galleries during last year’s lockdown.
