"Preserving memory is a fundamental part of the human condition, so that our approach to the present is weighted by our individual experiences of the past."
In this exhibition Jane & Mark reflect on both personal memories and socio-political issues of the past which are impacting on the present.
Exhibiting for the first time together, Mark works mainly in painting and mixed media using both representational and abstract techniques, while Jane works in painting, drawing and print-making using abstract/geometric formats as well as working in thread and metal sculptures .
Mark has previously worked as both an Art Tutor and Adult Education Art Course Coordinator and has held a life long fascination with the history of painting, particularly the post-impressionist era.
Jane formerly studied History, prior to studying Fine Art, and worked in HR for the Charity Sector before focusing on her art career. Jane is interested in human frailty and how we connect to each other and to the past.
