Etchings and watercolours

Peter Anthony Cooke
  • Opens: 24 April 2024
  • Closes: 6 May 2024
  • Where: Gallery 2

Peter Anthony Cooke presents a collection of watercolours and etchings, with a focus on both town and landscapes and artchitectal interior views.

Peter will also be presenting short talks, at set times in the gallery, to explain some of the processes of making an etching.

He will answer questions including how marks are made (some create a lines and others an area of tone, with the etching plates bitten by the acid).

How one, or more colours can be printed if desired and also how the etching of a 'view of Whitstable harbour' was developed from a drawing done ‘en plein aire’ and translated into an etching in the studio onto the plate.

Join Peter in Gallery 2 for a series of demonstrations showing different marks that can be made in etchings using the acid or simply pressure, show etching plates, how coloured images can be achieved, and why etchings are cheaper way of building up an art collection.

The talks will last about a quarter of an hour at 3pm on Friday 26 April, Sunday 28 April, Wednesday 1 May, Saturday 4 May and Monday 6 May
