Connection in Isolation

Here at the Horsebridge we continually adjusted to the new way of life with our doors opening and closing at short notice throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and not being able to interact with lovely people everyday or share in their arts experiences.

We wanted to play our part within our community to help stay connected with you and help those isolated with a range of activities and challenges. Our social media shared work of creatives sharing work to do the same, and we encouraged everyone to share with us so we could share what you were doing.

The work culminated in an exhibition once the centre was re-opened.

1 minute outside

We knew many of our community needed to stay isolated and not leave home and there were many others who want to do something to help where they could. Our 1 minute outside videos from our community came from a desire to help.

Post Hope

We launched POST Hope, an open submission exhibition in the September and we kept it running through lockdowns, Tier 4 and beyond. Encouraging the community to keep sending in their postcards of HOPE!

Virtual Exhibitions

Our closure meant we weren't been able to bring exhibitions to that artist and groups had been planning for months. so we supported artists in sharing their work and for some we shared virtual exhibitions, starting with our own Virtually This Is What I Want To Show You.

Virtual Young Makers Club

We couldn't run our Young Makers Club in the centre, so while staff weren't furloughed we were anble to make a Virtual Young Makers Club available every Thursday.

Young people could make crafts using home materials and share their creations.

Creative Challenge

Each week we set a Creative Challenge to anyone to take part in. We'll tried to go across a range of arts each week and not reliant on specific materials. The aim was for us to share with each other and stay connected.
