This week saw the start of our 'Extraordinary Places' Antarctica Project, working with our volunteer group, Young Makers and ISP Fostering to create all the parts of a large communal mural highlighting the unique eco system of Antarctica and the effects of climate change on this fragile environment.
It was the first session back after Christmas for our Wednesday morning craft volunteers and they were enthusiastic as always about taking on a new challenge!
This week they started to create the large back drop for our mural, concentrating on the colours and textures of the sea, land and sky as well as thinking about the hidden layers of earth and what fossils and finds they might contain.
We are looking forward to adding more detail and joining all the parts together when we meet again for this project on the 8th February.
