"Distillation" is a selection from a series of photographic images made over a year of being inside. Under the blanket of lockdown and confined at home, sight reduced, and the mind extrapolated of memory. With nothing novel to see, the world became a blur of background in search of focus.
Harriet is intersted in how our minds are programmed to manage perception, time and memory. We fill in so much of what we see and hear from previous experience, that we live as much in our pasts as in our present.
Harriet Gifford has been a practicing artist for over 30 years.
