£9 for Friends
These are supportive group sessions aimed at sewists with a little experience who need help and support to gain confidence using the sewing machine. Beginners are welcome, you will be shown how to set up and use the sewing machine, and how to choose fabrics and patterns. You can come to one or more sessions, depending on what you wish to make. You will be encouraged to work on your own project, but a small introductory make can be done initially to gain practice on the machine. We will look at techniques such as bag making, buttonholes and zip insertion.
Beginners will be given a small making project to start with, but intermediate sewers will need to bring a pattern and fabric for their chosen project.
We have 6 sewing machines, kindly donated by Whitstable and Herne Bay Rotary, so you do not need to bring your own. However, you may wish to bring your own sewing kit of scissors, pins, tape measure etc.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
