Phillip presents a selection of giclée prints and original oil paintings.
Themes of nature, science , music , and love are infused with humour and fun.
The work is rich in colour and detail to engage the viewer superficially at first glance, then reward further examination by revealing layers of detail and meaning. The longer the viewer spends with a piece, the more they will find.
The somewhat surreal work explores the form and nature of unrelated objects and the parallels which are observed between sleep and waking.
About the artist:
Phillip Long is a British visual artist whose journey began in the early 1990s, when he founded Nagual Creations to transform the unconventional spaces of London’s underground dance scene with immersive, large-scale artworks. His visionary pieces, known for their rich multidimensional layers and surreal motifs, quickly gained global recognition—appearing everywhere from iconic London clubs to festivals in Japan, South Africa, and North America.
Phillip’s creative roots are unconventional. After relocating to a remote part of the Lake District at 13, he found inspiration in the natural beauty and psychedelic flora of the landscape. Disenchanted with formal art education, he moved to London at 17, where he was drawn into the emerging rave scene. Fascinated by UV light and its creative potential, he began experimenting with fluorescent pigments, crafting unique visual experiences that blended colour, movement, and emotion. These early works not only defined a new era in club art but also influenced a generation of artists in the electronic music scene.
Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Phillip's installations featured at major global events, including Vision Quest (Japan), VooV (Germany), and Glade Festival (UK). His work received critical acclaim, including a centre spread in The Sunday Times Culture magazine, and coverage in The Face, I-D, and Channel 4 documentaries.
After a creative hiatus spent raising a family and working as an art director in corporate communications, Phillip returned to his roots as a full-time artist. He now focuses on oil painting, where his signature surrealism—infused with nature, science, music, love, and humour—takes on new depth and sophistication. Each piece invites both immediate impact and deeper reflection, revealing meaning over time through subconscious connection.
Today, Phillip continues to evolve as a painter, creating highly sought-after works for private collectors and businesses, while remaining true to the intuitive, immersive essence that defined his early career.
