Gaven Alexander has written a Children's book, which sees a group of pond inhabitants face challenges and adventure with one goal, to save their home titled Hidden Secrets of The Gunpowder Works. "The Forgotten Pond"
This first story is from a new collection of Children's Stories all based around The Gunpowder Works at Oare.
It contains 15 Illustrations, some of which will be on display at the Horsebridge along with the newly printed book.
Gaven has also worked on a collection of new paintings which will be shown for the first time, at the exhibition alongside award winning photography by Laura Drury, with a stunning collection of her new work.
Laura Drury would describe herself as an Impressionist Photographer, preferring to ‘make’ rather than ‘take’ a picture. Whilst she aims to capture a sense of the feeling of a place, her images are generally not representational and are created using multiple exposures and manipulating composition, colours, textures and light during post-processing. Her latest collections are inspired by wild meadows, grasslands and the River Stour.
'When the evening sun hits the grassy fields while I am out walking my dog, I am struck by the beauty of the waving grasses and all the different textures, shapes and colours that are found in just a very ordinary field. Trying to capture that in a single photograph has totally eluded me, but by combining images and creatively editing them in post-processing I feel that I can at least create a sense of what originally inspired me.'
