We have been quietly working away since re-opening to create a dedicated studio space that will be the hub for all our creative activity and learning this summer and beyond.
We are now ready for the installation of accessible sinks in our new wet room area and once completed, along with the additional use of our digital suite and learning rooms, we will be able to broaden our offer of workshops, community activity and access to professional equipment and space.
This is part of launching our summer programme for young people.
We are working with a great team of exciting new workshop leaders and have planned a fun and varied series of creative activities, to introduce children to a range of materials and digital formats all through the summer holidays. These YDM summer sessions are on a pay what you can basis and all materials and equipment will be provided thanks to funding from the Henry Smith Charity.
For those under 11 we have our Treasure on the Terrace workshops, providing 3 themed workshop sessions over 3 weeks and we cannot wait to hear the centre alive with the voices of all these young people getting back together again and see the public art installation they help to create on our terrace.
This will be followed by a series of creative classes and sessions for adults starting in September, that will offer a high-quality creative experience, again on a pay what you can basis, with a focus on socialising, learning new skills and gentle integration back into the community in a safe, open, friendly space, thanks to support from Arts Council England Culture Recovery Fund
