The Wild Escape Whitstable: part 2

Can you imagine bumping into a hippo along our high street? Or a meeting a mammoth on the beach?  How about paddling in the sea next to a prehistoric shark or wading in shallows with a woolly Rhino?

Well, if you could travel back in time over millions of years you may well have encountered one of these majestic creatures whose fossils and delicate remains can now be found in the the Whitstable Museum along with many other fascinating collections of native animals, sea creatures and flora and fauna.

Our Young Makers had a really great time this week sculpting and modelling these prehistoric animals alongside some of the more recognisable wildlife native to our very special part of the Kent coastline.

These clay creatures will make up part of two fun filled art installation that are being created at our Young Makers Club, ready to be installed here at The Horsebridge and at the Museum in our showcase windows to mark Earth Day in April.

This creative project is part of The Wild Escape a nationwide celebration of Britain’s wildlife found in museum and gallery collections, led by Art Fund and supported by Arts Council England
