Catherine Robinson, Tim Ray, Helen Easter-Beeken and Ray Attfield

Four artists each with a background of portfolio working, who combine their art practice with other pursuits. Their work, including painting, sculpture and collage, is informed and inspired by their varied careers in tutoring, international fencing, music, therapy, architecture, painting and decorating, gardening and T’ai Chi teaching.

Catherine Robinson’s series Still, together is a collection of collage portraits of couples who have been together for a long time. She is a printmaker, therapist, gardener and T’ai Chi teacher.

Tim Ray’s work is immersed in rhythm and beat. His dynamic paintings play like jazz to the eye, equal parts focus and abandon. He is an accomplished musician and composer, carer, sculptor, painter, free thinker and occasionally, a painter and decorator.

Helen Easter-Beeken describes her summer collection of paintings as her solace, stepping out of her studio at the edge of the sea. She is an abstract painter, art tutor, competition fencer and geology enthusiast.

Ray Attfield’s sculpture, using both natural and industrial materials, reflects on the conflict between Nature and Civilisation. He has had a long life as both architect and musician, and now at 88 is enjoying new creative freedom, making objects with meaning.
