Stories of Land, Sea & Sky explores themes of coastline, wildlife, nature, imagination and storytelling through two distinct yet complementary artistic styles. Each artwork tells a story-whether inspired by a place, an animal, a fleeting moment or an imagined world- creating a collective celebration of the landscapes, wildlife and ever-changing skies of the Kent coast.

Michele Papageorghiou’s acrylic paintings celebrate local coastal scenes and harbours, blending inspiration from Van Gogh’s expressive skies and Hokusai’s dynamic waves with the character of Kent’s seaside towns. Through movement, colour and atmosphere, her work captures both the energy and tranquillity of the coast while gently reflecting on the beauty and fragility of our changing environment. The exhibition will feature a curated selection of high-quality giclée prints from her original paintings, allowing visitors to enjoy her vibrant coastal imagery in a beautifully presented and accessible format.

Anne-Marie Rymill’s Abstract Realist mixed media paintings are inspired by dreams, spiritual encounters and the wonder of the natural world, exploring dreamscapes where the earthly and the divine converge through symbolic animal imagery, sea creatures and luminous layered surfaces. A member of the Association of Animal Artists, she combines expressive mark-making through acrylics, oils, spray paint, collage, and gold and silver leaf to create evocative works that invite curiosity, contemplation and a deeper emotional connection with nature.

Together, the exhibition presents an immersive visual journey through land, sea and sky, celebrating the richness, beauty and interconnectedness of the natural world. Visitors are invited to slow down, look closely and discover their own stories and connections within the landscapes, wildlife and imagination that unite both artists’ work.

Throughout the exhibition, both artists will be painting and working on new pieces at selected times, giving visitors the opportunity to observe the creative process and speak informally with the artists about their techniques, inspirations and creative journeys.
